MSCIM

The Manipal-Samvaad Centre for Indian music was inaugurated on 19th August 2019 at the hands of Mr. T. M. Krishna, renowned Carnatic vocalist and author and Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, Vice Chancellor, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal. The Centre is housed in the premises of the Manipal Centre for the Humanities and has been created in collaboration with Samvaad Foundation, Mumbai. We hope to bring into Manipal’s fertile academic atmosphere Samvaad Foundation’s rich archival collection of Hindustani music and to thereby create a hub for high quality scholarship, research and dissemination in the field of traditional Indian music.

The inauguration of the center was accompanied by a day-long seminar entitled ‘Creativity and the Khayal’ which saw leading performers and scholars of Hindustani music present new research. Watch the presentations below.
